Cupid’s Eternal Question
Walleigh and Hopkins first met in college, but it was five years later that things really started to simmer.
“I was really excited to see her after college because I had had a crush on her before and I thought it was going to be really cool to just see her again,” Walleigh said.
Walleigh knew how he felt about Hopkins. But how to answer Cupid’s eternal question: would she feel the same way about him? He turned to eCRUSH, a two-year-old Web site that allows users to send an anonymous e-mail — or "eCRUSH" someone they have a crush on. Millions of people have used the service and more than 300,000 people have matched up with their crushes.
“At first I thought who could this possibly be, and then I thought, I know who I want it to be,” Hopkins said.
She visited the Web site in return, and sent an anonymous e-mail to Adrian. Once they had e-CRUSHed each other, their identities were revealed.
“It’s pretty concrete, especially at that point in the relationship, it kind of does cut through a lot of the games that people play,” Walleigh said.
