Call Them Crazy
There are 75 million singles in America, so the market for romance-related Web sites is huge. In the last year alone, nearly 6 million people logged on to find love.

“The Internet is making interaction much faster,” said Karen DeMars, of eCRUSH. “People are getting to know each other much more quickly and on a much more intimate level.”

Last February, Eric Puente ran across Christine Willis’ profile on Match.com, a leading online dating service with 5 million registered singles.

“A lot of people are still shocked, they’re like wow, you met on the Internet, that’s crazy,” Puente said. “I don’t really care what people think. You can’t deny what a great relationship we have and how happy we are.”

So happy in fact that Puente and Willis will be married this summer. As for Walleigh and Hopkins? They’re just glad to have broken the ice. “This put in no uncertain terms, yeah, we’re into each other,” Walleigh said.

“Why go through the grief. Just send an e-mail. Ask,” Hopkins said.
